RelotoAVL.com is a unique source of information about moving to the Asheville area. We write about things that you’re not always going to see on the “main” tourism sites and we write from the perspective of a New Yorker and a Bostonian who made the move south.  We hope to have a lot of fun and informative content here – and we appreciate you stopping by!  Welcome to RelotoAVL.com!

Who We Are

We’re Tony and Missy, a married couple, who reside in Buncombe County. Tony was raised just outside the walls of Harvard University’s Sports complex and Business School in the lower Allston section of Boston, MA, while Missy is a Queens, NY gal who moved to Orange County, New York when she was 9 years old.

After a few years living in Manhattan, Missy made the move to Putnam County, NY (north of NYC) – that’s when she met Tony – her now husband – online! Thankfully, Tony was residing in Brooklyn at the time, so they were both were living in New York and could easily date.

We moved to Chapel Hill, North Carolina in 2010 for a job, at the time from Bronxville, NY, but didn’t land in Asheville until January 2014.  As many people will tell you, the Blue Ridge mountains either call you or they don’t. They called us – despite all logic – and we came.

Our son was born in Asheville in 2014, which is truly a magical place to raise a family. It is also a wonderful place to be whether you’re retiring, setting up a seasonal home, or simply eager to move away from congestion and stress. We often joke that even when there is “traffic,” there really isn’t ever traffic in AVL compared to NY or Boston!).

Our one challenge:  I’m a Yankee fan, Tony is a Red Sox fan – but we make it work!. 😉
